Four sure fire tips from 1 Corinthians 1:17-2:16:

1. Focus on eloquence; make rhetoric your cutting edge; appeal to common sense and people’s natural desires; scratch where people itch; speak in such a way that you’ll convince everyone or at least they go away thinking, that was a very fine speaker.
2. Keep the gospel of the Cross out of your preaching.
3. If possible remove any reference to Jesus in your sermon.
4. At the very least make sure you don’t spend all your time going on about Christ crucified – ensure balance by covering lots of different topics relevant to people’s everyday lives.
