Four sure fire tips from 1 Corinthians 1:17-2:16:
- Focus on eloquence; make rhetoric your cutting edge; appeal to common sense and people’s natural desires; scratch where people itch; speak in such a way that you’ll convince everyone or at least they go away thinking, that was a very fine speaker.
- Keep the gospel of the Cross out of your preaching.
- If possible remove any reference to Jesus in your sermon.
- At the very least make sure you don’t spend all your time going on about Christ crucified – ensure balance by covering lots of different topics relevant to people’s everyday lives.
