Thanks to all who’ve been praying for the pastors conference that started today in central Nairobi. Praise God that 38 attended, there was a good atmosphere, good food from God’s word and good physical food and conversation at the breaks.
Personal highlights:
- From Philip’s Bible overview – Bible narratives are like episodes of the TV series The Killing in that they resolve one question but raise four more. So a Bible story is not complete in itself – it crys out for you to read the backstory and to keep going to see how it all gets resolved. Sometimes the application of a passage is not ‘do this’ but ‘change your questions’.
- Cultural learning point – You do not kill a goat (in Kenya) – you ‘slaughter’ it.
Please pray on for strength for the speakers, for attendance, for encouragement for the pastors, for Christ to be glorified as his gospel is placed at the centre of lives, ministries and sermons.
